We have been open for just over 2 years and are loving our place in the High Street of this vibrant and foodie town in Kent. We have a lot of good competition around us in terms of service, environment and food but we can hold our own, and we like to reach out to our neighbouring businesses and lend a hand where possible as they have for us. Besides, we are also in the most beautiful building in West Malling bar none.
We are part of a bigger company – not too big, but in another market town in West Sussex and looking to grow over the next few years into a few more. We have a strong brand identity and quality runs through all we do from our suppliers to our customers as we try and create a real destination in both Market Towns.
We have a bakery on the South Downs where our award winning bread comes to us from everyday and a production kitchen who make all our retail Hungry Guest products and a few service staples for our menu too, to help consistently and cost base.
We are recruiting kitchen staff in West Malling to add to our great team and to replace our young chefs who are off to see the world this summer. We want hard-working, we want committed and responsible people who care for their team mates and the business. A love of good food but we don’t need the next Ramsey, we need people who understand why they are here and that is to make the best experience possible for the customers and being hospitable is what it is all about.
We have created a few great chefs from FOH because they have the right attitude to learn and so we are not hung up on years and years of experience. However, if you are an experienced chef then we would love that too and the package will of course reflect this. We are also looking for a Kitchen Porter or Kitchen Assistant who can manage to keep up with pot wash and support on prep and nag everyone around them to keep the place sparkling – any obsessive cleaners out there this is for you. We can accommodate part-time or full-time on both of these roles.
The hours for hospitality are great – we are open 7 days a week – 4pm close on Monday and Sunday and 3 evenings that rarely go over 12 midnight for the kitchen, if ever. We pay a fair wage which is dependant on your experience and we feed and water people and encourage breaks, two days rest a week and try and give staff a day off on the weekend too. It is lovely environment to work in and our customers are very special to us.
