The Hungry Guest Cafe has found its next location and we are pleased to tell you it will be the thriving town of West Malling, Kent.
This vibrant and contemporary town teams up a rich past with a beautiful mix of old and new architecture with an abundance of shops and eateries, while it’s monthly Farmers’ Market draw the crowds.
West Malling boasts many historic buildings, including St Leonard’s Tower, built by Bishop Gundulf c.1080, also known for building the White Tower in the Tower of London. A community of Benedictine nuns, who have made Malling Abbey their home since 1916. Other highlights include the striking, Tudor, Abbey Gatehouse, an unusual, Georgian waterfall called The Cascades, and the magnificent, Queen Anne Went House.
65 High Street is to become the second site of a Hungry Guest Café. The building is currently going through a large restoration project, while being sympathetic to the original building. Grade I listed features are being lovingly restored, including beams which must be hand brushed, and a stone fireplace on the first floor.
The West Malling site will follow the same ethos as our original café in Petworth which was named by The Times as one of the 30 Best Places for Brunch in Britain in 2012. Food will be served throughout the day with our menu offering dishes for all tastes, freshly baked pastries and roasted coffee made by our trained baristas.
